Flaminio Stadium The new Flaminio Stadium is located in the area used to be the one of the Turin Stadium, known for his strict architectonical style and for its classical design.

Built in 1911 it has been rebuilt in 1927, because it was considered too old-fashioned from a technical point of view and inadequate because of the damages caused by the time.

The new Flaminio Stadium is the answer to all the requirements of a modern and up-to-date facility.

It has been built right after the demolition of the old stadium in July 1957 and opened in March 1959.

The new stadium has been designed by the architects Pierluigi e Antonio Nervi and built by the Bartoli and Nervi's Company under the supervision of Bruno Magrelli, and it spreads over the same area of the former stadium.

The stadium has a capacity of 42.000 persons, 8000 of them covered. External entrances regulate entrance and exit of the audience. All the blocks of seats have a bar and other services.

The areas intended for athletes have big changing-rooms, all with showers, toilets, massage halls and a sickroom. There are also a 25x10 meters swimming pool, roofed and heated, a fencing hall and two smaller rooms for trainings, a group of two gyms for fight and weight lifting, a box hall and a gym for athletes.
The stadium has a comfortable press tribune of 114 seats for journalists, 112 boxes for radio journalists leaning out the roof. There is also a Press conference room with phone boxes and an telex room.

During Olympic Games both seats for press and services have been noticeably increased.

The lighting system used during evening competitions are between the most advanced.
